Now let me see if I have this straight:

The people on the side in question mostly came recently to the area known as Palestine or Israel during the 20th century. But a minority have ancestral roots back into antiquity. Prior to the 20th century, their side did not control the region. Their side has continually attacked, harrassed, terrorized, and killed people of the other side. Their side gets a significant amount of their weaponry from US foreign aide. Their side is in desperate need of a homeland and if pushed out of Palestine/Israel has no place to go (more a political reality than an actual reality). Their side, while in charge, has taken land from people from the other side and given it to their own people.

Oops, I seem to have forgotten whether I was talking about the Jews or the Palestinians. From the recent history lessons onthis list I must have been talking about both.

The Jewish state of Israel is oppressive and does not deserve the support of freedom loving libertarians. Any presumed Palestinian state does not deserve libertarian support either. I can and will say the same about the US government and every other government on this planet. So what is the problem with saying that both sides are wrong and demanding that the US government, which is the institution which is taking taxes from most of us on this list, stop supporting both sides? The lesser of two evils is still evil. Does no one believe in libertarian ideals anymore?

The state of Israel performs atrocities. Palestinians perform atrocities. There is no excuse for either side. Palestinian bombings are nothing more nor less than murder. Israeli counter-strikes are nothing more nor less than state-sanctioned murder. There is no excuse for either side. The state of Israel is an oppressive regime. All other regimes in the area are oppressive. The assumption that a Palestinian regime will be oppressive is hardly unfounded. There is no excuse for either side.

I have heard for many, many years that libertarians promote free trade with all people. I have heard for many, many years that the US government should have no entangling alliances. I have heard for many, many years that the only legitimate role of government is self-defense and that getting involved in foreign affairs hardly constitutes self-defense. I have heard for many, many years that libertarians believe that the initiation of force is wrong in all cases.

I was led by many libertarians over the years to believe in principles. We are now in the biggest crisis ever to face libertarians since our movement became an identity. It is time to put up, NOT shut up! It's time to honor the "liber" in libertarian.

If you continue to vote for the same policies, you will continue to get the same consequences because of those policies.
